by Ocean Floor

This track is intended as a companion piece to my 2017 release, The World Of Rain. Written around the same time, it uses some of the same ideas in a different setting.

I was interested in electronic sounds that could bend and evolve over time, like a cello or a steel guitar. I started using a Doepfer ribbon controller to achieve this sound. The controller permits notes to slide up and down indefinitely, using a touch-sensitive strip for input. The notes evolve continuously, rather than being static entities that are triggered once and die away. 'Fogland' is one of the first tracks I wrote to feature this device.
